Examination Results 2025
It is always a joy to celebrate with students on the results days in August and we were absolutely delighted with the success of a number of individual students this year. Many attained the highest grades at GCSE and A Level and we look forward to celebrating again with these students in our annual Celebration of Success Evening (see ‘Student Highlights’ below). On top of this good news, many headline indicators at both GCSE and A Level were up on 2024.
Like last year, 58% of pupils attained a Grade 4 ‘standard’ pass or higher in English and mathematics (up from 56% in 2023), but our Attainment 8 score rose to 44.2 (up from 42.2 in 2024). 71% of students attained a standard grade 4 pass in English (up from 67% in 2024), whilst 50% attained a good pass. In mathematics, 65% of students attained a standard pass (up from 63% in 2024), whilst 48% attained a good pass (up from 42% in 2024). In science, 63% of students attained a standard grade 4 pass or higher in at least two science subjects with 100% achieving grade 4 or higher in Chemistry and Physics, and 98% in Biology. As in 2024, a greater proportion of boys than girls attained grades 4+ and 5+ in English and mathematics. I must also mention the much improved results in Art and Food Technology.
At A Level, the pattern continued with an improvement in the overall pass rate to 96.5%, as well as in the proportion of students attaining A*-B at 39.5% (up from 36% in 2024) and attaining A*-C which rose to 67.5% (up from 62% in 2024) - these represent the highest pass rates over the last four years. Given that the A Level cohort of 2025 achieved a lower average GCSE score than the previous two A Level cohorts, this represents better progress overall (and with a higher number of exam entries this year).
Congratulations and well done to everyone concerned.
